Powder loss and breakage are common problems in BBQ charcoal production. They can affect product appearance, packaging quality and transportation performance.

What Causes Powder Loss?

Poor Particle Bonding

If charcoal particles are not bonded well, the briquette surface may release fine powder during handling.

Unstable Particle Size

Very coarse or uneven charcoal powder can reduce briquette uniformity.

Low Binder Dosage

Insufficient binder may result in weak bonding between particles.

Uneven Mixing

Correct binder dosage cannot compensate for poor mixing.

Incorrect Moisture

Both too little and too much water can reduce forming quality.

Low Pressing Pressure

Low compaction may produce porous and fragile briquettes.

How to Test Briquette Strength

After drying, observe:

  • Powder produced during normal handling

  • Damage after drop tests

  • Breakage during packing

  • Damage after transportation simulation

For export BBQ charcoal, the goal is not only to make a good-looking briquette after pressing. The product should remain stable until it reaches the customer.
