Adding more binder does not always solve a charcoal briquetting problem. If charcoal powder still cannot form stable briquettes, several production factors should be checked first.
Check the Raw Material
Coconut charcoal powder, wood charcoal powder and biomass charcoal powder have different forming characteristics.
A formula that works for one material may not give the same result with another material.
Check Particle Size
Very coarse charcoal powder may have poor particle contact, while unstable particle size can cause different results between production batches.
Check Moisture
Water should be added gradually and mixed evenly.
Too dry: difficult forming and low strength
Too wet: sticking, deformation and longer drying time
Check Mixing
The binder must be distributed evenly throughout the charcoal powder. Short mixing time can result in weak areas.
Check Machine Pressure
If the briquette machine cannot provide enough pressure, adding more binder may increase cost without solving the real problem.
Use a Controlled Test
Prepare several small batches and change only one factor each time:
binder dosage → moisture → machine pressure → drying conditions
Compare the briquettes after drying before deciding the final production formula.
