Zhengzhou Meiyihua Chemical Co., Ltd. supplies BBQ charcoal briquette binder for cold forming wood charcoal powder, coconut shell charcoal powder and other carbonized raw materials.
Mixed with charcoal powder and water, the binder helps improve particle bonding and forming stability. With suitable processing conditions, it can help reduce cracking, breakage and surface dust loss during demolding, drying, packaging and transportation.
Suitable applications include BBQ charcoal briquettes, coconut charcoal briquettes, charcoal blocks, balls and rods. The binder can also be evaluated for shisha and hookah charcoal production according to the raw material and finished product requirements.
Trial testing is recommended when changing charcoal sources, binder grades or forming equipment.
| Item | Reference Specification |
|---|---|

| pH | 7.0–9.0 |
| Bulk density | 1,000 ± 300 g/L |
| Viscosity | ≥10 mPa·s |
| Trial dosage | Approximately 2 kg per 100 kg of charcoal powder |
| Packaging | 25 kg bags or bulk bags |
These values are for reference only. Confirm the applicable product grade, batch specifications and test methods before ordering. The pH and viscosity values should be assessed under the supplier’s specified test conditions.
For initial trials, use approximately 2 kg of binder per 100 kg of charcoal powder, or approximately 20 kg per 1,000 kg of charcoal powder. Add water separately according to the material’s existing moisture and forming requirements.
This is a starting point, not a fixed dosage for every production line. Adjust the formulation according to charcoal type, particle size, moisture, forming pressure, briquette dimensions and required strength.
Prepare the material: Crush and screen the charcoal powder to maintain reasonably consistent particle size and moisture.
Mix and add water: Add the trial quantity of binder and mix thoroughly. Gradually add water while mixing to distribute moisture evenly.
Form and dry: Feed the mixture into suitable briquetting equipment, then dry the formed charcoal under conditions appropriate for the product and production line.
Check the results: Evaluate mixing uniformity, shape retention, cracking, dust loss, dried strength, handling durability and burning performance before moving to bulk production.
Can the binder be used with coconut shell charcoal?
Yes, it can be tested with coconut shell charcoal powder for briquette production. Confirm the dosage and processing conditions through small-batch trials using your actual raw material.
Why do charcoal briquettes crack or crumble?
Possible causes include unsuitable particle size, uneven mixing, incorrect moisture, insufficient forming pressure or unsuitable drying conditions. Check these factors before simply increasing the binder dosage.
What affects ash content and burning performance?
The charcoal raw material, binder and complete formulation all contribute to the finished product. Test the finished briquettes for ash content and combustion performance against your intended application requirements.
